COURSE DESCRIPTION: Are you on top of the latest regulatory changes affecting employee benefits plans? This was an active year – there’s lots to brush up on as you prepare for the new year. What better time than now to 1) make sure you’re in compliance with new 2007 regulations, and 2) get prepared for what’s on the horizon in 2008?
Benefits expert and attorney, Karen McLeese, will clear up any confusion you may have over the following:
-
The new final regulations on automatic enrollment in 401(k) plans, notice requirements for default investment arrangements (QDIA), annual benefit statements, and employer securities diversification notices.
-
Compliance with the new proposed cafeteria plan regulations that become effective in 2009. Many issues here: Do you have a plan document? If so, does it contain all of the required provisions set forth in the regulations? Are the benefits you offer through your cafeteria plan “qualified”?
-
New guidance regarding procedures for substantiating and reimbursing medical expenses by use of a debit card, credit card, or other stored value card.
-
Revised guidance about Form W-2 reporting of employer contributions for group term life insurance, dependent care assistance, and health savings accounts, as well as Medicare Part D notices to participants and CMS.
-
State dependent child definitions applicable to insured group health plans may conflict with Federal tax law – how do you handle the tricky tax issues that they create?
-
Coordinating health savings accounts (HSA) with flexible spending arrangements.
-
How to ensure the success of your wellness program, while staying compliant with the HIPAA nondiscrimination rules.
-
And more….
