ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Valerie Grubb recently joined NBC Universal (NBCU) as the Vice President of Operations and Initiatives in the Media Distribution Services Division. NBCU purchased cabler Oxygen Media in November 2007 where Valerie had previously served as the VP of Operations. At Oxygen, Valerie had a wide array of responsibilities including Human Resources, Risk Management, Training, Facilities, Security, Travel and Real Estate Operations for all Oxygen offices across the United States. Prior to joining Oxygen in 1999, Valerie was the Vice President of Operations for Barry Diller during the inception of IAC InterActive, Corp. While with IAC, Valerie was a significant contributor to the company’s aggressive acquisitions strategy; managing the integration of newly acquired companies in to the corporate umbrella.
Valerie was a featured speaker at the RIMS (Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc.) Annual Conference in 2007 as well as the Society of Human Resource Management’s Annual Conference in June 2007 (returning for the 2008 Conference as well). Valerie is an active member of Women in Cable Television (WICT); serving as a Prime Access Mentor in both 2007 and 2008. Valerie has also been a featured speaker for the National Association of Insurance Women (NAIW) where she is also a member. Valerie sits on two Boards at Indiana University: the Women’s MBA Board of Advisors and the MBA Sports and Entertainment Academy Board.
