COURSE DESCRIPTION: The economic stimulus bill that President Obama signed in February, 2009, included significant changes to the HIPAA privacy and security provisions.  The changes are generally effective February 17, 2010, although changes to the enforcement provisions are effective for violations occurring after February 17, 2009. HR Professionals need to be aware of these provisions to ensure that their companies are protected.

A primary aspect of her work is advising clients regarding changes in employee benefits law.   She helps clients comply with federal laws, such as Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) portability, nondiscrimination, and privacy, Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), Mental Health Parity Act, and other provisions of the Internal Revenue Code and Employee Retirement Security Act (ERISA) affecting employer-sponsored benefit plans.   She also helps employers reduce health plan costs by assisting in the design and implementation of strategies that advance the company’s business objectives.
